The New Girl Chapter 3Monday was here. The day was and sunny nice and with only a few clouds in the blue sky. All the school kids started going to school by walking, riding on their bikes or getting a lift from their parents. Cassidy got a lift from her mother, even though she wanted to walk, already knowing the way to school, but her mother insisted. Mel parallel parked on the side of the road across from school. She turned her head around to face Cassidy in the back seat with her bag.
“Now Cassidy, do you have everything you need for your first day of school?” Mel asked.
“Good. Now on your way home, don't talk to anyone you don't know. And don't go near any wild animals.”
Cassidy was started to get a bit annoyed of her mother being over protective.
“Mom, please, calm down.” Cassidy let out. “I’ll be fine; Victor and his friends might help me if I need any help.”
Mel just seat there before smiling.
“Ok Cassidy, have fun.
Grand romance ch5Groana felt so embarrassed. She was dressed in her normal daily wear without her apron with a purple jacket added but that was not the problem. Her hair was bashed neatly but that wasn't the problem. The problem was that she was going on a date with a guy who is in love with her like a love sick puppy. But there was no way out of it; she had to face the music.
"You look great Groana." A young childish voice said from behind her.
Groana turned around to see Ruby standing in the doorway with a smile on her face.
"Thank you Ruby." Groana replied with misery in her voice.
"Why are you sad?" Ruby asked.
"It’s a grown up thing, you’ll know when your older little one."
"Is it because of the guy you're going out with?"
"You catch on quickly. I'm just not sure if I really want to this. Most past romances I've had ended in tears."
"Maybe it won't end like that this time."
Groana became amused at Ruby’s attempt to cheer her up. But it didn't help her fully.
To depression, for creating days without endWake up to the realization that you've been awake
for seconds, minutes, hours.
You've been awake in this warm, dark room
and you don't know how long it's been
but now you're conscious
and it starts again--
the pain, strong and steady, in your chest.
You gain consciousness in this too warm morning
and your thoughts whir in endless loops
because it's either that or face the weight in your chest.
Light breaks though the window, soft and unwelcome
but you take it as a reluctant gift--
a new distraction from the feelings awake in your chest.
Awake, but not conscious.
So you think yourself in circles a little while longer
waiting for those quiet pains
(the constant reminder)
to gain consciousness.
