grand romance End Chapter

Throughout the whole walk back to the Manor, neither Groana nor Ronny talked or looked at each other. They just looked forward and didn't even exchange a glance. It took at least ten minutes to get back from the city to the Creepson manor. Groana turned her head and looked down to face Ronny.

“Well Ronald.” She began. “It’s been fun. Thank you for taking me out. Goodbye.”

Groana began to walk towards the door, hoping that this date was finally over, but she was stopped dead in her tracks.

“Groana wait.” Ronny called, making Groana stop in her tracks and making her turn around in an iterated fashion.

“What is it Ronald?”

“I have something for you.”

“I told you before, I don't want any sweets. But if that's what you’re going to give me, Reddie can have them.”

“Oh no, it's not a box of chocolates. It’s better than that.”

Ronny took his bag off his shoulders, unzipped it and reached in.

“You don't have to give me a gift for-”

Groana didn't finish her sentence. She stopped talking when she saw an object that Ronny got out of his bag and had in his hand. A black rose. Groana’s eyes went wide.

“Is, that,” Groana tried to get the words out, but she was speechless.

“Yes.” Ronny replied. “It's a black rose. Mrs Creepson told me how much you like them. So when I said I had to go to the bathroom, I was really at the flower shop. I understand if you don't want it. But it doesn't compare to your beauty.”

Groana was at a loss for words. She was bringing to have second thoughts about Ronny being another one of those pigs who would dump her for another woman. She took the rose and examined it; making sure it wasn't one of those joke flowers that would explode in a persons face.

“This flower is real?” Groana asked was the rose held to her chest.

“Real as the nose on my face.” Ronny replied. “Well, I guess this is goodbye. Goodnight.”

“Ronny, don't go just yet.”

Ronny stopped dead in his tracks when Groana called him by his nickname. He turned back around to face her.

“Yes?” He asked with his head tilted sideways.

Groana just looked at Ronny, took a deep breath and begin to talk.

“Maybe you and I can do this again.” She said with a quiver in her voice. “On a Saturday if that's ok with you?”

“Sure; I'm free on that day.” Ronny replied with a smile on his face.

Groana’s heart started to pound at a high speed.

“Well, I'll see you then.” She said while turn around to walk to the door.

“See you later.” Ronny replied while waving goodbye and turning around to walk away.

Groana walked up the steps to the door of the house with a blank look on her face with a tint of red in her cheeks. A creaking sound could be heard as she opened the door signalling her family that she was home.

“Groana’s home!” Ruby and Reddie shouted as they, their parents and their older Brother came around the corner to greet their nanny.

Ruby and Reddie grabbed Groana’s long legs and hugged them tightly.

“How'd the date go Groana?” Reddie asked with an optimistic look on his face.

“It's weird not hearing you yell at Damien for one of his inventions going haywire.” Ruby added.

“It went well.” Groana replied with the rose to her chest.

“Well it looks like it.” Adrian remarked. “He even gave you a gift.”

“He really seems like a nice man.” Alice added.

Groana stood there, looking at the black rose in her hand.

“He is.” She replied with a quiet voice. “In fact. I think I’m in love myself.”

Everyone but Damien looked pleased while he looked surprised.

“Well, I think it’s safe to say that today was a good day.” Adrian remarked with a smile on his face. “Now let's go and have a cook out in the backyard.”

The kids cheered and fallowed their father to the backyard. But Alice stayed behind and looked up at Groana.

“See Groana?” Alice implied. “All you had to do was give him a chance.”

Alice fallowed her husband and children into the backyard; leaving Groana to herself. Groana looked down at the rose in her hand and held it tightly against her chest.

“He loves me.” She thought as a smile appeared on her face.
